Near East University was represented at the 34th National Pediatric Surgery Congress and the 7th National Pediatric Urology Congress

34th National Pediatric Surgery Congress and the 7th National Pediatric Urology Congress was held at 26-30 October 2016 in Kyrenia. The Near East University has represented all of its latest social and scientific achievements including the successful representation at the congress, whose participants were leading pediatric surgeons, pediatric urologists from Turkey and faculty members from abroad.

The founding members of the NEU 3D Laboratories Dr. Emil Mammadov and Mech. Eng. Ersin Aytaç have participated in the “3D Printing in Pediatric Surgery” panel as invited speakers. Ersin Aytaç, has provided useful information about the history of 3D printing, explained the process and also gave detailed information regarding the current projects. In addition, Dr. Emil Mammadov, has emphasised the significance of 3D printing technologies and the use it brings to the studying process and, moreover, to the surgery itself. Dr. Mammadov mainly paid an attention to the importance of studies in the field of tissue and organ engineering, underlining the indispensable role of 3D printing.

During the congress the NEU 3D Laboratories has presented to the participants 3D printed models of medical instruments, such as functional surgical instruments. Moreover, the live process of 3D printing was shown to the guests.
